ESP CSR provides flexible target setting options to support GHG and resource management initiatives and programmes.

Targets can be set against actual emission sources, e.g., electricity, diesel, or against dedicated inventory items that are set up just for use as target metrics. These can be any emission scope.

Targets can be set up at any level of organisational boundaries (including your value chain).

Targets are aggregated up the organisational tree just like activity data is.

Creating Targets:

There are multiple ways to track Targets in the system.

A user can add target data against any Inventory by:

1. Clicking on the Inventory Item in question either from the search bar or from the location overview page.
2. Click the Activity Data tab on the Inventory Detail page and select View Target Data.
3. Click the edit pencil icon against the month you want to add data against to upload against.
4. Input the data and press the tick icon to save.

Things to Note:

  • You can bulk add Target Data via the Manual Data page found under Manage in the top menu.
  • For Organisational Target Data, we recommend creating out of scope target inventory at the level you want in the organisation and adding your data to that Inventory. You can use the target fields or the normal data fields for easier uploading of target data.

Target Terminology
GHG Protocol Corporate Standard (GHGP) and CSR

In the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard (Revised Edition), business strategies pursued to manage and reduce GHG emissions are discussed in the context of "GHG Targets". In chapter 11, a series of useful GHG target steps are provided to assist organisations in establishing and monitoring GHG management strategies.

A target boundary in the GHGP is defined as the boundary that describes which GHG's, geographic operations, sources and activities are covered by the target. For more information go to https://ghgprotocol.org/corporate-standard.

In CSR, organisation and inventory items selected for target initiatives equate to the GHGP’s target boundary.
